Security Services
At Guardian Security and Investigations, we offer a number of security services to provide high-quality protection services against potential threats to you and your business. From a security risk assessment and security consulting to technical surveillance countermeasures, asset protection or privacy consulting, we have you covered.
Security Consulting
A risk assessment is used to identify potential threats to your business as well as address any vulnerabilities that may exist. One of our highly qualified and experienced security consultants will work with you to assess your physical security, information systems and hazardous conditions. Then they will help you determine the best course of action needed to prevent those threats from becoming a reality.
Once the assessment is complete, key security controls will be implemented to decrease the chances a security breach will occur. Preventing additional vulnerabilities and addressing potential threats will also lessen your chances of future problems developing.
Some of the factors under consideration include the size of your company, your assets, and the rate at which your business is growing.
All of these aspects along with your available resources will affect the depth of your risk assessment. Once the assessment is complete, Guardian Security and Investigations will provide a detailed report that maps out your assets, associated threats, potential risks and extenuating controls and defines the ways in which they could all leave your company vulnerable if not addressed.
A risk assessment requires four basic steps. The first is identification, which involves the determination of your company’s assets. Next come the discovery and analysis of important or sensitive information that is created, stored, or transmitted inside or outside the business. Guardian Security and Investigations will complete a risk profile to outline all potential risks.
Next, the findings are analysed to determine how each risk might impact the well-being of your company. After all the risks have been identified and thoroughly assessed, the security consultant will create a plan of action for allocating time and valuable resources toward modifying the risks. Steps can then be taken to put security controls in place for each risk.
Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM)
Also known as electronic “bug sweeping”, comprise the thorough physical and technical inspection of your home, workplace, or property to find and neutralise hidden surveillance devices.
A TSCM survey is conducted to detect, locate, and identify any concealed bugging devices. It can also be used to identify specific areas where your organisation or establishment may be losing information. This is facilitated through the use of illicit eavesdropping devices, including passive listening devices “bugs”, which can be as innocuous as a baby monitors, and active eavesdropping devices such as RF transmitters.
Types of recording devices and transmitters
During each bug sweeping session, we take care to find any of the following:
- Covert listening devices: Also called bugs or wires. These comprise a microphone with a miniature radio transmitter.
- Recording devices: These are tiny hidden recording devices used to store audio data.
- Vehicle trackers: Used to locate vehicles using GPS or GLONASS technology.
- Wiretaps: This involves connecting a listening device to the circuit which carries information between phones so the one conducting the wiretap can eavesdrop on the conversation.
- Covert video monitoring: Through the use of a strategically placed, very small, sophisticated audio-video device, people can be secretly monitored.
Specialised Equipment Used in Detecting TSCM
We use state of the art bug detection equipment to uncover illegal listening and recording devices, transmitters and hidden video cameras.
- Radiofrequency detectors: This bug detector can pick up electromagnetic signals being broadcasted from an electronic device such as a bug.
- Non-linear junction detectors: Also called NLJD for short, this device illuminates the space where high-frequency RF energy is detected.
- Thermal imaging: This device converts low-frequency light waves into the light frequencies that are visible to the eye. Even a bug has a heat signature.
- Spectrum analysers: These are hi-tech detectors that can locate bugging devices and transmitters hidden within the spectrum of other signals.
